Sessions are 50 minutes long unless otherwise arranged. The first 2-3 sessions are often about getting to know one another and starting to establish trust and comfort. In Gestalt therapy the therapist and client are equals, working together. On occasions, if there is something theoretical or factual that I feel would support you I will share it, but in general we dialogue together to co-create the therapeutic space. I will invite you to explore your embodied sensation, and support and guide you to do this. I may also suggest experiments in service of increasing your awareness or trying out new ways of being. These are only ever invitations and you choose what we work on and how we do so.
Real change and building relationship take time, so in general it is best to consider psychotherapy an ongoing commitment. Fortnightly sessions work well for many people, but we can work more or less frequently depending on your individual needs.
